Fellow deviants, I value your opinion! Please read this and let me know what you think! :)

I've decided to begin work on a tutorial website that allows designers to create and upload tutorials made for their favorite graphic editing programs such as Photoshop, Gimp, Corel Draw, Ms-Paint... Anything they want!
Submitters will be encouraged to link back to their own websites, portfolios, or dA accounts, bringing plenty of well deserved attention to their body of works!
Additionally, I want to offer features such as forums, and chatrooms.

Here's where your opinion counts:

1) Would you ever search for tutorials on a website like this?
2) Would you ever be inclined to submit tutorials to a site like this?
3) What other features would you like to see on a site like this that would make you more inclined to visit?

My only concern with making this site a reality is that bandwidth usage will be very large, thus making a website like this expensive to host. I'm toying with the idea of offering some subscription-only services, such as extra forums, commission boards, advertisement space for your gallery/website, access to source file downloads, and bi-monthly contests to win prizes such as clothing, videogames, subscriptions etc.

4) What other services would you want to have access to if you were a paying subscriber to such a site?
5) What would be a fair monthly subscription fee?

Thank you so much for your input! Your opinion counts :)

Not sure yet...
Still sort of a pipe dream. I am currently hosting my own site and all my client sites with IX Web hosting and am pretty happy with them.

1) Would you ever search for tutorials on a website like this?

yeah of course

2) Would you ever be inclined to submit tutorials to a site like this?

sure. but actually if there is a reward for someone who create that tutorial that would be really good. but of course maybe you need some staff to check the reliability & quality of that tutorial

3) What other features would you like to see on a site like this that would make you more inclined to visit?

high quality tutorials!! any tutorials... especially for visual communicators.

4) What other services would you want to have access to if you were a paying subscriber to such a site?

i don't want to join/subscribe that kind of site... the visitor JUST WANT your tutorial archive.

or maybe... there is a unique system happening inside your web. so we will get the profile page + level of the user's skill. the highest level is someone who have been submitting lot of hi quality tuts. an hybrid idea by combining MYSPACE, DEVART, GFX, and TUTORIALIZED.

or maybe
subscribers will get the full feature in community (eg. rating, css profile, or even opening an online classroom) and they will get some cash for every tutorial they produce. if its the new tutorial they can get double cash or triple cash in return).it's just an idea that came 3 secs ago... yeah i never missed my marketing & business class when i was in university. hehe :p

5) What would be a fair monthly subscription fee? 20dollars per year maybe =+=
how about donation?

(( again, if i were you i will find some people who are interested donating your project and involves them in your project and make it as your team... the income would be from ads & that subscription.

good luck bro!

Thanks for your feedback, I really appreciate it!
I'm still sort of debating whether a site like this will be work the time and money investment to create. Especially if I offer video tutorials too, that's a ton of bandwidth and advertisements really don't pay too well. Especially Google Adsense...
But your ideas are all great and valid, especially since you never missed your marketing & business classes :)

video? hmmm... not really interesting. remember, lot of my friends are now living in the jungle of dial up. :) they rarely buy magazine coz it's also expensive eg: advanced photoshop, etc... the oly source for them is online tutorials ;) not video but a clear screenshots.

I would love to see this kind of grassroots open source site go up, since I'm tired of the endless poorly-designed, ad-riddled pay sites that reserve the best and most useful tutorials for monthly subscribers. I might even be able to contribute once it is up and running.
