Natures Miracle by Vectortrance Natures Miracle by Vectortrance
Wow... what to say about this peice?

To me, this horrific graphic represents the inequalities in life. How unfair this world can be for people. I hate it when things are sugarcoated. This image, to me anyway, depicts the awful truth that nothing is perfect, nothing lasts forever, and nothing is fair.

I wanted to try my hand at stirring up emotions. I wanted my work to touch people on a deeper level, stirring up different and complex emotions. That is why I chose to go with such a graphic, disturbing topic. Babies are universally thought to be beautiful and perfect. In this peice however, the babies are dead, disfigured, and mutant. A lot of people who have seen this one have told me I am sick in the head, and if that's the case, then so be it! I acheived what I wanted. Hopefully people will walk away from this one with some complex feelings.

This was done in photoshop. I'm sorry, I don't have the references for the stock photography. A lot of it came from online scientific journals.

there goes to show what drugs can do to an unborn fetus......nice work in photoshop with the little ones off to the side...this is a very weird piece, but I wouldn't say that you are sick in the head, it could be have been worse.

I totaly agree with your idea and I must have stared at that picture for 10 minutes. I really like it. And I dont think that all babies are beautiful either. (In a stange way I would consider that er.. those babies to be more beautiful than some I have seen)

I think you have achieved your objective in many respects... it is a complex piece, in theme, and I find myself at a loss for what it is I want to articulate... maybe I need some time to digest it.... good work... :D

It's disturbing and evocative.

I wonder a bit about the colours.....they're almost like plaster. I don't know what colour a baby is in the womb - pink?

But i wonder how this would come across in the yellow-green luster of formaldehyde?

I think a slightly green tint over their skin and a more olive colour in the negative space might make it clearer.

Don't worry. I'm just as macabre as you, AND I have a fascination with conjoined twins.

Its supposed to be in formalehyde. I didnt color balance it well enough I guess. I made them ghostly pale to try and project the idea of sickliness and death. Lovely, arent I? hehe

I don't know what to say about this exept that it is very good and so sad. I'm sure birth defects happen a lot more than people think they do.

Yeppers.
If you've ever seen Alien: Resurrection, you may recall the scene in which Ripley discovers all of the prior clone attempts.
That was one of my sources for inspiration. I also watch FAR too much tv, and I saw a documentary once on parasitic twins and found it to be one of the most disturbing things ever, hence the embryos attatched like parasites to the main set of children.

Thanks a bunch!
Basically I started with some scientific journals. Found that creepy pic of preserved conjoined twins. I decided it would be disgusting if they had undeveloped parasitic twins attatched, so I looked for images of fetal children. Then came the boils, also found images. To behin with, I played with color and contrast in photoshop. Then using the magic healing brush I managed to blend different layers together while keeping the skin textures. Touched up using the blur filters, pressure and airbrushes, and finally the burn and highlight tools. Then after all that I finished by playing around with lighting filters until I found what I had wanted.

it all sounds very complicated to me. i'm a prose writer and MSPaint addict...not much photoshopping or image-manipulation there. :) but i'm impressed with the amount of time it must have taken to create this image.
